Tenafly is Bringing the World Cup to Downtown This Summer
Get ready, Tenafly — the biggest global sporting event in the world is coming to downtown in a way only our community can deliver.
On July 18th and 19th, the Tenafly Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Borough of Tenafly and community partners, will transform downtown Tenafly into an unforgettable FIFA World Cup Viewing Weekend filled with live match viewing, family fun, food, music, entertainment, local business activations, and community spirit.
This will not just be a watch party — it will be a full-scale downtown experience bringing residents, visitors, businesses, and soccer fans together for one incredible summer weekend.
A Downtown Fan Zone Experience
Downtown Tenafly will be transformed into an interactive FIFA fan zone featuring:
Giant live viewing screens broadcasting the matches
Food trucks and local restaurant vendors
Outdoor beer garden and specialty beverages
Soccer inflatables and interactive games
Family activities and kids entertainment
Community sponsor activations
Local business shopping and giveaways
Whether you are a lifelong soccer fan or simply looking for an amazing community weekend with family and friends, there will truly be something for everyone.
The FIFA Passport Challenge
One of the most exciting community activations during the weekend will be the launch of the Tenafly FIFA Passport Challenge — an interactive experience designed to drive visitors into local businesses while celebrating community spirit.
Attendees will receive a commemorative passport booklet featuring participating businesses throughout Tenafly. Guests will be encouraged to visit businesses, take photos, participate in promotions, and tag participating businesses along with the Tenafly Chamber and Borough social media accounts throughout the weekend.
Participants who complete their passports by visiting participating locations will be entered into a raffle for special prizes, including the chance to win a grand prize giveaway.
The Passport Challenge is designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore downtown, support local businesses, and create a fun, interactive experience beyond the main viewing areas.
Introducing “Tenafly’s Next Sportscaster”
One of the most exciting additions to the weekend will be the launch of Tenafly’s Next Sportscaster, a competition open to teens ages 13–17 throughout Bergen County.
Participants will submit short video clips showcasing their sports commentary skills, with finalists earning the opportunity to provide live commentary during the FIFA viewing weekend in downtown Tenafly.
The competition will feature an incredible panel of judges including Tracy Wolfson and Noah Garden, helping inspire the next generation of broadcasters and sports media talent. Click Here to Apply!
Supporting Local Businesses & Building Community
Just like the award-winning Tenafly Night Market, this event is designed to bring the community together while supporting local businesses and showcasing everything that makes Tenafly special.
Local businesses, restaurants, vendors, and sponsors will have the opportunity to participate directly in the experience through activations, promotions, giveaways, and the FIFA Passport Challenge, which will drive foot traffic throughout downtown and encourage attendees to discover and support participating businesses.
The weekend will also feature commemorative event merchandise, specialty beverages, music, entertainment, and unique experiences designed to create lasting memories for residents and visitors alike.
